YOUTH PLAINTIFFS

Nate & Jeffrey K.

Nate K., Age: 2
Jeffrey K., Age: 6

At only two years old, Nate is the youngest plaintiff in this youth-led climate lawsuit. He loves to camp, hike, and fish with his family, including his older brother Jeff. Enjoying the great outdoors has always been a big part of his family’s life. However ever since Nate was born – during a particularly bad wildfire season – the climate crisis has increasingly impacted his health and well-being.

Nate has respiratory health issues and has gone to the emergency room for difficulty breathing on more than one occasion. This means that, like his older brother, he is especially vulnerable to wildfire smoke and is unable to safely be outdoors during increasingly frequent periods of poor air quality.

My children are plaintiffs in this lawsuit because it is not right for state government to take actions that knowingly harm children, particularly those that are especially vulnerable to climate change impacts, like wildfire smoke.
