BADGE B.

Age: 12
Hometown: Kalispell, Montana

Being outside is a way for Badge to decompress and relax. Swimming, fishing, camping, rafting, hiking, skiing, and hunting are Badge’s favorite activities and an important aspect of his life.

One place he likes to visit in his home state of Montana is Badger-Two Medicine. It’s the place he was named after, and he has always felt a deep connection to the area. After a catastrophic wildfire impacted the forest in 2015, Badge felt devastated to see hundreds of year-old pine trees burned to the ground. “The fire has changed the nature of the place I am named after, and now when I visit, the experience is not the same.”

Badge also enjoys hunting – it’s both a recreational activity and an important source of food for him and his family. Some of his fondest memories are hunting with his dad and brother in places like Polson, where he’s hunted Hungarian partridges. Badge wants to protect Montana’s beautiful environment, which he cares deeply about.

When I do outdoor activities that I enjoy, I don’t want to think that it is going to be my last time. It is something I have been worrying about for my whole life.
